Authors and Contributors

• Name, contact details, and professional information – to manage the publishing relationship, correspond about manuscripts and contracts, and make royalty payments
• Bank details – held solely for the purpose of making royalty payments; not used for any other purpose
• Biographical information provided for publication – used only as agreed, to appear in published works or on the Berean Press website

Newsletter Subscribers

• Email address and name – to send occasional correspondence about new publications, series updates, and news from the press. Subscription is always voluntary and can be withdrawn at any time

Readers and Enquirers

• Contact details provided when making enquiries – used only to respond to the enquiry
• Order information where Berean Press processes a direct sale – used to fulfil the order and, where required by law, for accounting purposes. Payment processing is handled by third-party providers; Berean Press does not store card details

Suppliers and Collaborators

• Name, contact details, and banking information – to manage working relationships and make payments

Website Visitors

• Basic analytics data only, where analytics are used – the minimum necessary, with no detailed individual tracking and no data sold or shared with advertising networks

UK GDPR requires that personal information is held on a lawful basis. Berean Press uses the following, depending on the category and purpose:

• Contract – information held to fulfil a publishing contract or other business agreement
• Legitimate interests – information held where there is a genuine business need that does not override the interests of the person whose information it is
• Consent – information held because the person has actively chosen to provide it, such as subscribing to the newsletter. Consent can be withdrawn at any time
• Legal obligation – information held because the law requires it, such as records needed for tax and accounting purposes

Berean Press does not use personal information for automated decision-making, profiling, or any purpose not described in this policy.

Personal information is kept for as long as it is needed for the purpose for which it was collected, and no longer.

• Author and contract records – for the duration of the publishing relationship and for seven years thereafter, as required by HMRC
• Newsletter subscriber details – until the person unsubscribes, and deleted promptly on request
• Enquiry correspondence – for a reasonable period in case of follow-up, then deleted
• Supplier records – seven years, as required for tax and accounting purposes

Berean Press does not accumulate personal information beyond what is required.

Personal information held by Berean Press is used by Berean Press only. It is not sold, shared with third parties for their own purposes, or used for advertising.

Limited sharing with third-party service providers may occur where it is necessary to operate the business. Where this occurs, only the information necessary for the specific task is shared; providers are required to handle personal information securely and in compliance with applicable law; and Berean Press remains responsible for how that information is used.

Named third-party providers currently used by Berean Press that process personal data: MailerLite (newsletter distribution); Stewardship (giving fund administration). This list will be updated as providers change.

Berean Press takes reasonable steps to protect personal information against unauthorised access, loss, or misuse. This includes using secure systems for storing sensitive information and limiting access to personal data to what is necessary for the task in hand.

No digital system is entirely without risk. If a security incident occurs that affects personal information, Berean Press will notify the people affected and, where required by law, the Information Commissioner’s Office, promptly and honestly.

If the Berean Press website uses cookies, only those necessary for the site to function or for basic analytics will be used. Cookies that track visitors across multiple sites or that support advertising are not used.
